Again, Welcome to Otero County Electric Cooperative, Inc (OCEC)

Safety:
(OCEC encourages you to remember the following safety rules)

 

Disconnect and Reconnect Information:

  • Bills are mailed each month. The net amount of your bill is payable within 20 days of the date the bill is issued. If bill is not paid by the date shown on the second notice, the service is subject to disconnection.
  • If service is disconnected, additional deposits may be required, reconnect fee may also apply, if account is reconnected after normal business hours, weekends and or holidays an additional overtime fee will be added. If you have any questions about this please call the billing department at 505-682-2521
  • WARNING: Reconnection of one’s own service after it has been disconnected for any reason is a dangerous practice and is an illegal act. New Mexico law makes any tampering with a meter, or attempting to steal electricity in any way, an illegal act that is punishable by fine or imprisonment or both.

 

If Your Power Goes Off:

  • First go to your main electrical panel to see if a breaker has tripped
  • If problem is not in main panel, call a neighbor to determine if other homes in the area have the same problem.
  • If the problem is NOT within your home’s wiring or if several homes in the area are involved, then call OCEC

  • Give us your name and physical address, phone number, account number if possible. (It would be handy to have your account number beside the telephone)

 

Life Support Equipment

  • If someone in the home is dependent on life-support equipment such as respirator, infant heart monitor, don’t wait until an outage to notify us of these circumstances. Call us now at 505-682-2521 or 1-800-548-4660. These residences are given priority when service is reconnected.
